How many EV chargers can our business install?
That depends on the site's electrical capacity, existing demand, charger power, simultaneous use and whether load management is suitable. A site and load assessment is needed before a reliable number can be recommended.
What charger power does a commercial site need?
The correct power is driven by vehicle dwell time, battery needs, daily mileage and usable site capacity. Vehicles parked all day may not need the same charging speed as short-stay or high-utilisation fleet vehicles.
What is load management?
Load management controls how available electrical capacity is shared between chargers. It can reduce simultaneous peak demand and help a site use its existing capacity more effectively, subject to the installation design.
Will our business need an electricity supply upgrade?
Possibly, but not every installation does. Existing demand, Maximum Import Capacity, charger quantities and power must be assessed. Some sites can use load management, while others require distribution or network changes.
Can charging points require payment or user access?
Compatible networked chargers can support access control, monitoring and payment functions through the chosen backend or charge-point operator. Those commercial and software arrangements should be specified separately from the electrical installation.
Are grants available for commercial EV charging?
Grant schemes and eligibility can change. Businesses should check the current SEAI criteria and application sequence directly before purchasing equipment or commencing work.
Can the installation be expanded later?
